Tags and dataplates marking is one of the most widespread application in the Industrial field. When it is not possible to mark directly on the industrial component to be identified and traced – for example to avoid altering or compromising its material – it is chosen to mark on tags or dataplates to be installed on the component itself. It’s a kind of traceability solution widely used also for components or equipment installed in heavy industrial environments or in places where atmospheric agents subject equipment and systems to continuous physical stress. It’s a marking application particularly suitable also for equipment that can get into contact with chemical agents or solvents.
Each plate is used to report important information on the component (date and place of production, lot number, type and composition of the material, limits and details on use, overhaul, past maintenance activities, duration of the component and, of course, the name of the manufacturer). There are several local and international rules and laws that oblige manufacturers to mark their products, in many product categories:
How can you mark dataplates and tags?
Another particularly important part in the tags marking is the cycle time and the quantity of pieces to be marked. When the number of plates is very big, it is possible to mark a large number of them by distributing the plates over the entire work area with the marking head moving to mark them all, or with standard automated solutions, such as our Automator Automatic Tag Feeder for laser markers and dot-peeners, which allows you to automatically mark a large number of stacked tags and re-stack them.
