INDUSTRIAL MARKING FOR SHIPYARDS AND RECREATIONAL CRAFTS – A SHORT GUIDE

Industrial marking - boat and yacht marked

Industrial marking is a mandatory process for all industrial segments, also in boats manufacturing. Marking is widely used for stamping nameplates, for specific boats serial numbers or for creating decorations on boats equipments and appliances. But first of all, for international laws and regulamentations.  For instance, each craft shall carry a permanently affixed plate mounted separately from the boat hull identification number, containing the following information:

Another standard: the HIN number.

The Craft Identification Number (CIN) or Hull Identification Number (HIN), standardised as EN ISO 10087:2006, is a permanent unique fourteen-digit alphanumeric identifier issued to all marine vessels in Europe. The metal HIN plate is applied to some different and idden part of the hull.An example CID/HID might appear as “GB-BCC-6434-L-9-09”, where “GB” is the ISO 3166-1 country code, “BCC” would be the XYZ Company’s Manufacturer Identity Code (MIC).

Industrial marking for labelling,  and personalization

In addition to all these purposes, industrial marking can be also used for creating labels, for giving information about the correct use of equipments, about buttons functions or for  stamping manufacturer’s logos or decorations, maybe also the name of a yacht on boat supplies.

This kind of marking can be made on a high range of materials, such as metals, plastics, ceramics, glass, resins, woods, leathers, or even special ones. Industrial marking can also be used for customizing or branding boat supplies, like silverware, flatware, cutlery, keys and so on.
