The product range Piaggio Group includes scooters and motorcycles with capacities from 50 to 1200cc with the brands Piaggio, Vespa, Gilera, Aprilia, Moto Guzzi, Derbi, Scarabeo. The Group also operates in the light transport with three and four wheels with the ranges of commercial vehicles Ape, Porter and Quargo (Ape Truck).

Some of the brands of Piaggio Group are among the most prestigious and rich of history in the two wheels branch : from Gilera (founded in 1909), to Moto Guzzi (founded in 1921), to Aprilia (that in more than twenty years has established itself as the most victorious Italian and European brand among the participants in the World Championships Speed) until the extraordinary Vespa brand that since 1946 identifies "the" scooter, with over 17 million units since 1946, as a  commercial success of incredible longevity and icon of style and the best known Italian technology worldwide.

Piaggio is based in Pontedera (Pisa, Italy), and - concerning the production - is present in the world with a number of factories located  both in Italy - Noale (Venice), Scorzè (Venice), Mandello del Lario (Lecco ), and in Martorelles (Barcelona, Spain), Baramati (India, in the state of Maharashtra), Vinh Phuc (Vietnam).

Piaggio Group also operates in a joint venture with a company in China (Zongshen Piaggio Foshan Motorcycles, in Foshan, Guangdong Province).


Technologies used

Since decades Automator is supplier of the companies belonging to the Piaggio Group with machines for marking and identifying the motorcycles. 

The traditional mechanical technology has been joined by several  time by the dot peen machines, computerized and easy to integrate. The controller, which accompanies the marking heads, is updated over the time and offers many standard features for the traceability of the product. Possible customizations for the interface with the management software of the customer.
