Always one step ahead

Autoblok Corporation was established in 1981 as a subsidiary of Autoblok of Italy, the largest power chuck manufacturer in Europe. Since 1942, Autoblok has been at the forefront of engineering and manufacturing state-of-the-art workholding, clamping and tooling solutions.

The global corporate organization is dedicated to QUALITY, PRICE, TECHNICAL SUPPORT and CUSTOMER SERVICE. Our products are manufactured to the most demanding standards in the world, yet priced competitively to those products of lesser performance. Autoblok has achieved sustained global growth by providing a superior level of customer service and technical support for our application driven product line.

In 1993, Autoblok acquired SMW of Germany. The combination of these two premier manufacturing entities resulted in the most extensive product line of high quality workholding devices in the world. Now available exclusively through its subsidiaries, reps and distributors, SMW AUTOBLOK customers are ensured a consistent, single source of superior product performance, support and service.

Autoblok is pleased to announce a new product. Here is the article about it.

After the important success of the AP and NT chucks (sealed without through hole) in high production processes where the part could be clamped with the simple radial movement (no active pull down), the market requested a new line of chucks with similar features, but with open center. To fulfill these requirements, SMW-Autoblok designed and realized the new line of BP chucks.

The BP chucks maintain the same basic features as all other “proofline” chucks

  • Constant lubrication and protection from coolant, chips and swarf penetration
  • Constance of gripping force allowing a more constant process accuracy and quality
  • Low maintenance
  • High productivity thanks to the reduced down-time for maintenance
  • Ecological thanks to the limited use of grease and the absence of grease contamination in the coolant
  • Long service life at high precision
  • Ideal for machining in harsh environment due to fluids, chips and swarf
  • Ideal for machining with high pressure coolant
  • Economical, thanks to the operating life 5-10 longer against a non-sealed chuck

The specific features of the BP chucks are

  • Same through hole as the standard (non-sealed) open center chucks type BH
  • Perfect connection to the cylinders type VNK having the same through hole
  • Body designed for high rigidity for reduced distortion during clamping and rotation
  • Ring wedge with wedge-hook connected  to the central part of the master jaws to have the longest master jaw guide in the chuck body to maximize rigidity
  • No centrifugal force compensation, but allowing high speed thanks to the light master jaws
  • Serrated master jaws version BP-D (inch serration) or BP-M (metric serration) with great flexibility thank to the possibility to clamp small parts (shafts and bars) with collet pads mounted on the central part of the master jaws and to chuck large parts (flanges) with top jaws mounted traditionally
  • Tongue and groove version BP-C for even higher speeds thanks to the lighter master jaws

The BP chucks brings all the advantages of the sealed chucks in our “proofline” series also to the open center standard chucks, allowing also standard machines for general use to finally use a modern work-holding system.

The BP chucks are available in the following sizes: 220-260-320.

Tecnología selecionada

Autoblok uses mainly two technologiee, laser with YVO4 sources, ideal to mark metals and alloys; impact for fast deep "one shot" marking.

Laser is computerized techno, impact is a manual non computerized techno.

This is a very interesting case. Also because of its wide and various production, Autoblok uses technologies at opposite poles and also using machines so different: for example, MB32 as impact manual machine; Superior as the biggest laser in Automator offer.

This example, to say an important concept: each application has an optimal solution, which is not necessarily the most technologically advanced.
