The oldest light beer

Pilsner Urquell is a Czech beer, produced since 1842 in the city of Plzen, in the region of Bohemia.

Probably it is the oldest light beer on the market, created by Josef Groll, although the brewery production in Pilsen seems to have started already in 1307.

All the lager produced currently in the world seem to be inspired by this beer. Several use the name pils(ner), although they are often less substantial and hopped than the original Bohemian beer.

The brewery PPAS today belongs to the SABMiller group. Pilsner Urquell is exported to about 50 foreign countries and its market is increasing. It recently won the prestigious trophy in Chicago and named World Champion Beer.

Marking technology used

This very old brewery takes care not only of its product - one of the oldest light beers - but also of the packaging.

For this form of promotion and marketing of the brand, Pilsner Urquell has chosen the hot marking on wooden boxes and barrels.

Using a  punch especially produced on request and with a heater block, the wood is marked indelibly, with a degree of finish that supports the idea of handicraft of high quality.
